Conference production: how to create interactive workshops
1. Introduction (5 minutes)
Start by welcoming participants and introducing yourself and any colleagues running the session with you. Provide a brief overview of the workshop's objectives and what participants can expect to learn.
2. Icebreaker/Warm-up Activity (2 minutes)
Ask the workshop participants to introduce themselves to two individuals on their table. This helps build a sense of community amongst participants.
3. Provide a presentation of your workshop topic (10 minutes)
Deliver a concise, focused presentation covering the key points you want to convey. Ensure that the content is clear, well-organized, and easy to follow. In your final slide, assign a task, problem, or discussion topic related to the workshop's content and ask the audience to debate this in a roundtable discussion.
4. Roundtable Exercise (30 minutes)
Assign a facilitator from your team to each roundtable discussion with clear instructions on managing the discussion. Allow all participants to have the opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and actively engage in the process.
5. Sharing and Discussion (10 minutes)
Bring the groups back together and allow each group to share their findings, solutions, or insights. Open the floor for questions from participants regarding any aspect of the workshop or the content covered. Summarise the main points and highlight key takeaways from the group activity.
6. Closing remarks (3 minutes)
Recap the key takeaways/main points covered during the workshop. Express gratitude to the participants for their active participation and contributions. Provide a final slide with your contact details.
